Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program
9 weeks starting
Sunday,
January 24 2010 The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program (MBSR), originally developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, is a highly engaging and supportive program comprised of eight weekly two-and-a-half hour classes, as well as an extended practice session between the sixth and seventh classes, for a total of 9 consecutive weeks. Mindfulness is a practice that enables you to take better care of yourself by exploring the connection between mind and body, as well as enabling you to access your own inner sources of strength. It involves paying close attention to whatever is happening in your life with a sense of interest and curiosity, letting go of judging and critical thoughts. By allowing things to be the way they are, rather than fighting against what life presents, you become better able to sit with and respond to difficult feelings and experiences, thereby reducing the tendency to react in an impulsive manner.

Yoga and Self Image - Toward
Healing and Integration
Saturday, April 24 2010
According to Patanjali, asana means to sit
in the Seat of Self, the divine Self. Yet, as we inhabit this
human body, can we also sit in the seat of our physical, emotional and
mental self? How do we relate to the reality of being in this
embodiment? Yoga touches upon all the
levels of the multidimensional being: the physical, the mental and the
spiritual. In the workshop, through the practice of Asana,
Pranayama, relaxation, meditation and other tools we will explore:
Self-observation
with compassion (a basic tenet of Kripalu Yoga) Body and breath
awareness Welcoming
the present moment Creating Beauty with our
Body Focusing and quieting
the mind from negative self-talk Switching from the
fight/flight response to relaxation response Santosha,
gratitude Connecting
to the Source within all of us My own journey has been
one of healing and integration, learning to hold the imperfection of
being human while inquiring into the nature of being fully alive .
COST: $50 Nadia Puttini is a certified 200 hour Kripalu Yoga Instructor working toward her 500 hour Professional-Level Certification. About twelve years ago, she discovered Kripalu Yoga and became deeply committed to the practice of postures, breath and self-inquiry under the guidance of beloved senior teacher Shobbhan Richard Faulds. She graduated from Lesley College with an MA in Creative Arts Therapies which sparked a passionate relationship to dance and movement and the exploration of moving from within. After working in the mental health field for a few years, Nadia became a Mom-at-home while continuing the study of Yoga. If asked, she will say that Yoga is a fascinating life path, complete in its physical, emotional and spiritual components and that there is always more to learn, which is the best part (here she usually chuckles!). Of course, being the mother of an young daughter is possibly the greatest teaching of all. She teaches classes as well as private sessions. Vies & Print Details for - Check back for flyer
Happy Minds, Wise Hearts: A Mindfulness
Retreat for Moms
Session A: 6 Thursdays starting April 29, 2010 As busy moms, we know that our families depend on us for many things. Because we tend to focus more on others than we do on ourselves, we’re less likely to know that our happiness also depends on us. It’s true. We grow our own happiness through our daily actions: the things we say and do, the choices we make, the people we spend time with, and the ways in which we take care of ourselves and others. As simple as this sounds, it’s not easy. But it is something we can learn. Happy Minds, Wise Hearts is a mindfulness retreat designed specifically for moms and expectant moms. This six-week educational program will be offered in a relaxed setting where you can connect with other women and learn about relational well-being to the benefit of yourselves, your children, and others. Together, we’ll explore three disciplines that help us cultivate happiness and influence our well-being: mindfulness (a quality of attention), heartfulness (lovingkindness toward self, children, and others), and skillfulness (relational practices toward self, children, and others). Through gentle instruction and guided meditation, we’ll practice deepening our capacity to balance what goes on within us with what goes on around us.
Space is limited to
10 participants.

Dance your
Yoga!
May 2010 - Check back for date Kripalu Yoga and Creative Movement share a similar intent: to deepen the form so as to connect with the inner wisdom that moves us all. In this workshop we will warm-up with Yoga asanas, practicing with attunement to breath and sensation, awareness of the mind and an attitude of playfulness and exploration of each pose. Connecting with our body-mind in the present moment will then allow us to step into a live creation of movement, a guided surrendering into the external frame of the music and the internal experience of letting it go and letting it flow. Finally, we will nourish ourselves with relaxation and an activity to integrate the journey.

YOGA FOR ADDICTIONS
POSTPONED TILL SPRING 2010 Yoga offers a wealth of resources for working with addiction. Whether one suffers from addictive behaviors or actual dependence on a substance, tools drawn from Yoga practice can be highly practical in one's effort to restore balance and cultivate serenity.
Together, we will look at how to apply
several concrete, specific Yoga skills to the addictive experience, and
increase our sense of skillfulness in caring for ourselves.
Students should expect to be able to integrate these skills into their
practice on and off the mat by the end of the workshop.
COST: $50 for the
3-hour workshop
